The total cost of SCBA replacement is $77,901.00 which leaves the Town portion as $14,128.67 after the GST/HST Rebate has been received.
Canada Community Building Funding
The work to be done under the “Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program” did not meet the criteria so the application could not be submitted. However, the work to be done is covered under the “Canada Community Building Funding – formerly Gas Tax” so the complete list was presented to and reviewed by members for consideration to apply through this funding. Three quotes will be obtained and presented to Council at the next meeting for further discussion.

The Water Report from testing by Government Services on October 8th, 2024 was satisfactory. However, effective October 21st, 2024 at 11:00 p.m. a Boil Water Advisory was issued due to waterline swabbing and flushing.
Fire Dept: Junior Firefighter update
The Junior Firefighter enrollment has increased to 13 members.
Fireman’s Ball
The applications for awards and medals have been submitted. When they are received, the date will be set for the Fireman’s Ball. However, it most likely will be spring before that will happen.

CFDA Program
The CFDA Program ends on November 2nd, 2024. A list of duties was presented to and reviewed by members. The Cape Freels Development Association will be contacted to see if they will continue the program as the Town is willing to continue it.
Collections Report
The Collections Report for September was presented to and reviewed by members. The collection of arrears is slowly but steadily progressing.
3rd Quarter Financial Statements
The 3rd Quarter Financial Statements were presented to and reviewed by members. The Town is in good standing.
Public Works: Chlorine Readings
The Chlorine Readings for the month of September were presented to and reviewed by members. Readings were within recommended guidelines.
Monthly Usage & Flow Data
The Monthly Usage and Flow Data Reports for the month of September were presented to and reviewed by members. The average water usage was 146,294 gallons per day.
Fire Dept: Junior Fire Fighters Program
The Junior Fire Fighters Program started up on October 7th, 2024.
FES Incident Report
An FES Incident Report was presented to and reviewed by members.
Flame Resistant Coveralls

Province Wide Radios
The new Province Wide Radios have been received. One base radio to be installed in one of the Fire Trucks must be installed by their certified technician. A certified technician will be sent out to do the installation when they have one in our service zone.

Town of Deer Lake Petition re: Decline of Cell Service Signed by Mayor
New Business: T-Ball & Minor Baseball
A proposal to build a committee to provide T-Ball and Minor Baseball, for ages 4 – 18, was presented to and reviewed by members. The proposal, from Ryan Ellsworth, is in the early stages and he is requesting Council join him in making his idea a reality and help the proposed committee get the baseball field up to an appropriate standard to make it safe and usable. He also invited a representative from Council to sit on the committee. A plan outlining what needs to be done with the baseball field will be submitted to Council.
Members are interested in supporting this endeavour to get the ballfield up and running and would appreciate being informed of the progress moving forward. Councillor M. Nippard expressed interest in joining the committee as well.
