Public Works: Screen Cleaning
A report and pictures of the Screen Cleaning on October 9th, 2018 was presented to and reviewed by members.
Alders
Transportation and Works have not removed the alders at the intersections and throughout the community as previously requested and agreed to. Clerk/Manager will contact the department for an update and their response will be brought back to next meeting.
Fire Dept: Operation 2020
Operation 2020 is an in-house training program that will meet the requirements of NFPA 1001, Firefighter 1, 2018 Edition starting in January 2019. The program will be delivered in-house by fire department training officers over a period of 14 months or less. Fire Chief Nathanael White and Training Officer Cory Boone are scheduled for the first training session on behalf of the Carmanville Fire Department.

The 3rd Quarter Financial Reports were presented to and reviewed by members. Clerk/Manager will print off detailed statements regarding office supplies and garage supplies for the next meeting.
Collection Report
The Collection Report was presented to and reviewed by members. Slow but steady progress is being made in this area.
Water Tax Exemption

Public Works: Water Report/Boil Order Lifted
Water Reports on September 24th, 2018 were satisfactory and the Boil Water Advisory was lifted by Government Services.
Chlorine Readings
Chlorine Readings for the month of September presented to and reviewed by members were within guidelines.
Public Works: Monthly Water Usage/Flow Data
Average water usage for the month of September was 131,250 gal per day.
Waterline Leak @ Municipal Building
Pictures of the waterline leak at the Municipal Building were presented to and reviewed by members. The leak has been repaired.
Burry’s Lane – Turn around
A turn around area up Burry’s Lane is required for the Curbside Collection. Clerk/Manager is to check with the land owners to determine if a section on both sides of the road can be widened to accommodate this request. Results will be brought back to the next meeting for further discussion.
Alders
Tabled to next meeting as this topic was requested by Deputy Mayor Peddle who was not in attendance.
Fire Dept: Live Fire Training
Council supports the request to attend Live Fire Training in Gander to fulfill the Firefighter 1 requirement but noted the community cannot be left unattended. Fire Chief will be asked to find out if there can be 2 sessions to ensure all firefighters capable of attending are given the opportunity to attend. Results will be brought back to the next meeting.
Nuisance Calls
The Fire Department has been receiving numerous daily calls between 11:40 a.m. and Noon without leaving a message or the number showing up on the phone. Members were in agreement to contact the RCMP and Bell Aliant to see if there’s anything that can be done to stop the nuisance calls.
Habitat: Community Garden
A letter was presented from the Habitat Committee requesting to use a section of property between the Tool Shed and Fire Hall to develop in-ground beds for community gardens. Members were in agreement that this section is not available but they can move the shed the width of itself towards the Fire Hall, move the fish boxes on the pallets and use the strip between the current garden boxes and the trees the whole length of the lawn. Fill may be required to level the land but there will be more space to develop the in-ground community gardens in this area.
