Fire Van
The 2018 Ford Econoline Van for the Fire Department should be delivered this week.
Fire Training Grounds Proposal
There is a fire hydrant close to the Highways Depot on Route 330 so the area next to the depot towards Musgrave Harbour is a possible site for the Fire Department Members to consider. Cell phone service is available in that area as well. Info will be passed on to the Fire Chief to present to the members.

The 2024 Budget Draft was presented to and discussed by members. Further research is required on the Fire Department Budget; results will be brought back to the next meeting. The Town’s Budget will then be finalized and presented for adoption.

The Quarterly Water Report from samples taken in June 2023 by Water Resource, Dept. of Environment was presented to and reviewed by members. THM’s were 112.88 and HAA’s were 80.38 which are slightly over the recommended guidelines.

Possible Water Leak

Fundraising
A request was received for Council approval for the Junior Firefighters to fundraise. More information is required with regards to what the fundraising is for and what type of fundraising is involved as licenses are required for ticket sales which would have to be applied for by the Town or Fire Department and there are rules that would have to be adhered to with different types of fundraising.

The start date for the Community Enhancement Program is December 4th, 2023. Members were in agreement that decorating the Community Christmas Tree and decks would be the first priority. The rink work will commence immediately after the decorating is completed.

Town Clerk/Manager will be taking vacation from December 20th, 2023 to January 9th, 2024. The Assistant Clerk will be covering during this period.

This meeting was called to discuss a Cube Van that Councillor G. Blackwood checked out this past weekend. The Fire Van we currently have needs to be replaced.
Mayor Howell left the meeting and went to the Fire Hall to check with the members to see if they were in favour of purchasing this vehicle. Fire Chief White had forwarded the information regarding the vehicle to Council and had previously forwarded it to all their members. Fire Department members were overwhelmingly in favour

Members were in agreement that the property at 163 Main Street be combined with the wharf property which is federally owned, exempt from Property Tax, but covered under the “Grant in Lieu” agreement with the Town. Public Works: Water Report/Boil Water Advisory
The Boil Water Advisory was lifted on November 10th, 2023 as per satisfactory results from Government Services Water Test done on November 7th, 2023.
Vehicle Maintenance Logs
The Vehicle Maintenance Logs were presented to and reviewed by members.
Chlorine Readings
The Chlorine Readings for the month of October were presented to and reviewed by members. Readings were within recommended guidelines.
Monthly Usage & Flow Data
The Monthly Usage and Flow Data for the month of October were presented to and reviewed by members. The average daily water usage was 158,782 gallons per day.

Deep Socket Set
Members were in agreement to determine which sockets are required and to purchase them individually as it is cheaper than purchasing a set.
Public Works: Water leak
Members were in agreement to have the town workers repair the waterline leak in the area of 182-184 Main Street as the location of the leak cannot be determined without digging up and it may be in the abandoned line from an old shut off.
Fire Dept: Incident Report
An incident report regarding the side mirror of the Fire Van was presented to and reviewed by members. There was no damage to the mirror and members were in agreement that no action needs to be taken.
Junior Firefighters Program 2023
The Junior Firefighters Program recently started their new program and they have a total of 10 Junior Firefighters participating this year. Council members were invited to drop by during their training nights (Monday nights) to check it out or introduce themselves to the new recruits.
Fire Van
Another option for a Fire Van, received from Fire Chief White, was presented to and reviewed by members. Further research is required.
Santa Claus Parade
The Santa Claus Parade is scheduled for December 9th, 2023.
Fire Training Grounds Proposal
The old Rind Pit was suggested as a site for the Fire Training Grounds by the Fire Department. Further research is required with regards to the cost of developing the land, funding possibilities, etc. Results will be brought back to a future meeting for further discussion.
