Business Arising: NL Power/Shed
Currently waiting on response from Resident regarding direction he wants to take on relocation of shed. There was General Agreement to contact the Town Insurance Broker to get a price on the “Errors and Omissions” insurance clause. Results will be brought back to council for further discussion.
Demolition Order
Four quotes in total were received regarding the Demolition Order. One of the quotes received required legal advice which has been requested. Council will be notified when this information has been received so the process can be initiated.
FD Member Health/Fitness
Personal Protective Equipment must be worn by all Fire Department Members responding to a fire regardless of what duty they are performing as a firefighter. A meeting will be set up with the Fire Chief, Clerk/Manager and a firefighter to discuss this issue and other health and safety concerns.
NAPE Negotiations
Council’s final response to the Union’s counterproposal will be presented at the next NAPE Negotiation meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 14th, 2016.
Business Arising: Beach Clean-up
During the recent Habitat Committee’s beach clean-up, indiscriminate dumping and attempted burning of prohibited material was observed in several areas along the beach. Pictures were submitted with a letter from the Committee requesting that appropriate action be taken to clean up the mess. A copy of the letter and the pictures will be forwarded to Environment and Conservation to determine what action can be taken by that department. Municipal Affairs will also be contacted to see what action can be taken by council since the mess is located in the beach area. It was also agreed that a letter be sent to a resident to remove and properly dispose of debris located on the property next to his residence.

Municipal Affairs Inspection Report
A Municipal Affairs Inspection was conducted on May 26th, 2016 on the town’s current financial situation and compliance with the Municipalities Act. An excellent report was received from Municipal Affairs, circulated to and discussed by members present. All financial procedures are followed as required under the Act and all compliance requirements under the Act are adhered to. The only recommendation was that further efforts are required to collect outstanding taxes. A Tax Recovery Plan and reporting procedure has been implemented and is adhered to.

Chlorine Readings – May

Class A Gravel
General Agreement to pick up Class A Gravel when required for waterline repair as there is nowhere to safely store at this point.
Waterline Pig/Flush
Members were informed that a 10” Pig can be put in the main waterline at the Pond and taken out at the first hydrant at 5 Main Street which would clean the 10” line from the Pond to Town entrance. Then 6” and 8” Pigs can be put in at the Pond and taken out at hydrants located at Noggin Cove Head, the end of Main Street South and the end of Noggin Cove Road to clean the remaining 6 and 8 inch lines - with the exception of Howell’s Ave. This option, in conjunction with Flushing and the procedure previously put in place regarding hours of work during the pigging/flushing will be discussed before the fall schedule for Line Flushing.
Fire Dept: NFPA 1041 Instructor 1
The Fire Chief has successfully completed the NFPA 1041 Instructor 1 Course to teach the Firefighter Level 1 course and will commence training Fire Department members in the Fall. A letter of congratulations on this achievement will be sent to the Fire Chief.
Fire Dept: Mental Health First Aid Training
A representative from the Fire Dept. will attend the Mental Health First Aid Training in New-Wes-Valley on June 14th & 15th, 2016.

A guideline regarding the use of personal email accounts for public business was received from the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner and circulated to all members for information and retention.

Information from the presentations at the Municipal Symposium was discussed by members. Copies were given to all members for information and retention.
